Trousers and Jeans

From Gold digger to Gentleman – the man and his trousers

The success story of jeans began in California during the gold rush where a certain Levi Strauss – who emigrated from Germany just a few years before – invented the sturdy indigo-colored cotton trousers. And the story actually ends there. But the former “working trousers” of the gold diggers do not come from Los Angeles anymore. For the trendsetters of the urban world the hottest jeans labels are now “Seven of a man kind”, “True religion” or “Citizen of Humanity” where a piece may cost 250, - Euro.

Jeans are the most wide spread piece of clothing and always adds new capital to its legendary history. While jeans were a symbol of rebellion against authorities in the 50’s they are now accepted in society. Not only that: no matter what age you are, jeans always embody nonchalance and youthfulness. For many a casual leisurely outfit is not perfect without a pair. Combined with a blazer or a leather jacket or with a polo or t-shirt -- jeans fit to any occasion when casual.

The trendiest jeans now have the used look.  They have patina and traces of usage – as if the owner has been wearing them for a longer period of time. This artificial inflicted aging process is elaborate and time-consuming as almost everything is done by hand. The unique pieces – because each pair has an individual outcome – naturally cost more than an  ‘unprocessed’ pair.

Our assortment of trousers and five-pockets in the oversize range from wool-imitations (‘Ceramica’) - which look great combined with a blazer – to cotton-jeans in different colors up to denim in all imaginable washings.

Did you know that the best denim that is also used for the expensive californian labels come from Japan?

We offer all forms of trousers: the classic five-pocket designs as well as the waste-cut jeans (also for short-body form).

Our most popular brand for jeans is ‘pierre cardin’ – the most well fitting five pocket for all sizes. We also carry JOOP!, POLO RALPH LAUREN, Eurex by BRAX, Alberto, BRAX, Mustang, Lerros and Hiltl in our assortment.

Long trousers in Europe are just 50 years older that jeans.

This time it was not nobility that was the fashion pioneer. They rather gloated over their knickerbockers with fine silk stockings while the simple workers of France wore the long trousers.  After the French Revolution the ‘pantalon’ established itself in the fashion world because of its convenience and functionality.

Flannel trousers in combination with a blazer or an informal sweatshirt (i.e. cashmere) are regarded as an acme of clothing culture. They are slightly coarse on the surface, are light and perfect for the cold seasons.

Cord trousers also shine during the cold seasons. They can be harmonically combined with a British-style blazer in the so-called ‘landlord’-style, or simply sporty with an Oxford-shirt or a sweatshirt. They are highly resistant, breathable, humidity absorbent (because they are mostly made out of cotton) and are simply charismatic.Made out of the newly developed micro fibers the new kind of cord called ‘Micor’ is highly resistant, spot and water resistant and much lighter than cord trousers made out of cotton.

Thermal trousers naturally complete our assortment in winter.

After the winter season ultra-light, fine-threaded new wool and comfortable cotton pants welcome the spring season with style. If the days get warmer linen trousers are a cooler alternative.

And yes, Bermudas and Capri pants play the colorful main role in summer.  They have gone through new and colorful developments:  from kiwi to orange to a strong, masculine red – well combined, these colors come to shine. If you are looking for the right combination we are glad to help.

In regards to form, single pleat trousers have dominated the fashion scene for several years because they are comfortable and modern at the same time. Otherwise cotton and cord chinos are the up and coming alternative without pleats.
